Never spend money on paper again!

For years, Office Depot had this deal where you brought in your used printer ink cartridges to be recycled and you got a free ream of recycled paper. We have about 15 reams of this stuff that we have stockpiled in our guest bedroom closet. If you need any paper, let me know! I think that Office Depot still offers this deal in some locations. We use this paper for special occasions, when we have to print out something that others will see. Meeting minutes for our service clubs, official documents etc. For everyday use like printing out recipes and directions, we use the backs of office paper and even junk mail. The goal is to use every possible surface of a piece of paper before recycling it.

One of the easiest green practices that we have adopted is using the backs of envelopes as note/scratch paper. It is amazing how many nice, clean and plain envelopes we receive in the mail each week. I cut them open at the top as I go through the mail and keep them by the phone, bedside and office desk. They are the perfect size for grocery lists, honey-do lists and notes to the pet or baby sitter.  When I go to the grocery, I often put any coupons that I am going to use inside the envelope with my grocery list. How convenient! I guarantee if you start saving these envelopes you will quickly amass a large stash of note paper. I think that the larger envelopes would also make great drawing paper for kids. If they see mom and dad making lists on these special papers, they will want to join in the fun!
